| Satisfying
favorites and a touch of decorative class score a hit among the bullpen of
Italian joints surrounding Fenway Park. |
|
The Scene
Candlelit tables, warm-hued walls and an airy open kitchen contribute to
one of the Fenway area's most comfortable dining atmospheres. The
restaurant enjoys a loyal clientele of young professionals and graduate
students. Friendly, accommodating servers keep water glasses and
breadbaskets filled, even on the sidewalk patio (a favorite of Red Sox
fans looking for more than a pre-game hot dog).
The Food
Sorento's kitchen covers its bases by offering something (something
Italian, that is) for everyone, from pizzas to pastas to freshly filled
cannolis. Given the reasonable prices, menu quality is impressively high.
An exceptional house antipasto-- a heaping platter of vegetables
(marinated and roasted) and meats and cheeses (imported)--is a satisfying
meal in itself. Sun-dried tomatoes, pignoli nuts and asparagus conspire to
make Sorento's chicken Parmesan an exceptional one. If it's available,
finish with a slice of delicate, not-too-sweet tiramisu. |

| "Loyalists
relish this quiet, hidden Fenway
Northern Italian whose delicious, interesting pizza and large portion of pasta
can be slowly savored outside in the candlelight on the patio most agree it's
the only pie worth considering. Flavorful food makes this comfortable Fenway
Italian a solid find, especially for the best pizzas and pastas in the low-price
range. SORENTO'S, Recognized as one of the top pizzeria restaurants rated
excellent." ZAGATsurvey |
